General Studies from Central Virginia Community College is a Campus Associate Liberal Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. The General Studies curriculum is designed to meet the needs of students ready for higher education, but have not settled on specific career paths. It is an opportunity to meet the general education requirements of the first two years of most baccalaureate programs in four-year colleges and universities. General Studies is the most flexible transfer program offering a broad range of classes to choose from while still meeting the requirements toward an associate degree . Students are given numerous options in the fields of laboratory science, social sciences, and humanities. However, students are urged to select a four-year college or university early in their planning and to prepare their community college program carefully in accordance with the requirements for entry into the junior year at the college for which they will transfer. It is suggested that students enrolling in this degree program work closely with the CVCC Counseling Center throughout their two years at the College as the general education requirements of four-year schools change annually.
