English Literature from Central State University is a Campus Bachelor English degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. The English program provides a strong foundation in the study of the English language and literatures and offers the B.A. in English Literature or Pre-law focus. Students may study American, African-American, British, African, Women's, and global literatures as well as Linguistics, history of English and Creative Writing. The B.A. in English Pre-law track requires additional coursework in Business, Communication, History, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology. The University Writing Program consists of 4 Composition courses and prepares students with writing skills needed for success in their Majors. Students must qualify to take and pass ENG 1101 and ENG 1102 in order to graduate. Highlights The Writing Center provides state of the art computers, tutors and graduate school entrance exam software. The Writing Complex provides writing tutorials. The English Senior Seminar includes preparation for the Field Test in English . Careers The skills developed in the English programs prepare students for careers or graduate study in Management, Finance, Communication and Government. Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, and Presidents have former English majors within their ranks. The Pre-law track prepares students for Law School or careers related to Law, including Public Policy, Diplomacy. In any post-baccalaureate plan, faculty mentors and the Career Services Center provide support. Preparation For all Humanities majors we suggest you complete four years of high school English and two years of a second language.
