Computer Science Bioinformatics from Case Western Reserve University is a Campus Bachelor Bioinformatics degree that prepares you for a Science career. Bioinformatics Recently there has been an explosion of available biological data which has been stored in various data repositories; e. g., human genome data. Although this data is very useful for biomedical research, both basic and applied, special tools are needed to organize and access the data because of its sheer volume and unconventional structure; database management techniques by themselves are not adequate. Bioinformatics is concerned with the development of algorithms and computer systems that will enable biomedical researchers to explore the data in these repositories in order to find the data which is needed for their research, as well as to filter out data which is not relevant. Research in bioinformatics requires at lease some background in both computer science and biology.
