Pharmacy Technician from Carver Career Center is a Campus Certificate Pharmacy degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. This six month Pharmacy Technician program (680 hours) is offered twice a year starting in July and again in mid January. It is designed to train for careers as Pharmacy Technicians in hospitals, other health care organizations, and retail pharmacy operations. Students study pharmaceutical and medical terminology, pharmacy environment, organization and management, pharmacy law and regulations, properties of drugs, dosages, compounding and parental admixture operations, packaging and labeling, controlled drug dispensing system, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical calculations, aseptic techniques, purchasing and inventory control systems, pharmacy record keeping, sterile preparation of intravenous admixtures, introduction to microcomputers and keyboarding skills. Students participate in several clinical experiences. Students are required to take the national certification exam administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
