Culinary Apprentice from Carver Career Center is a Campus Certificate Food degree that prepares you for a Vocational Programs career. The goal of the Culinary Apprentice Program at Carver Career and Technical Education Center is to provide future culinarians entering the workplace with comprehensive training in the practical and theoretical aspects of work required in the highly skilled profession. Carver seeks to do this through a partnership between the American Culinary federation West Virginia Chapter, the W.V. office of the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training, area foodservice establishments, Carver and West Virginia Institute of Technology. The chef of today needs to be a multi-talented individual who posses; managements and supervisory skills, as well as being a skilled culinary artisan. It is our goal to develop those skills through a carefully planned program of classroom learning and apprenticeship. During your time here at Carver, you will be learning from an on the job Training concept enhanced by participation in the classroom setting. You will be expected to complete at least (4000 hours total) in a full-time kitchen under a qualified chef. And complete a minimum of 576 classroom hours per year in addition to the work schedule.
