Course Description: The following is a breakdown of the units of theoretical and practical instruction necessary for completing the 1000 hours course: I) 500 hours of Post-Graduate School Training which includes: all subjects in the basic cosmetology curriculum including theory and practice. Presentation of material must include the concepts which are intended to be taught and the skills to be acquired during the various phases of basic education. II) 20 hours of Educational Psychology which shall include, but not be limited to, topics in educational objectives, student characteristics and development, the learning process, and an evaluation of learning which relates to teaching. NOTE: The requirement above may be waived if the student can present documentation demonstrating that the teacher trainee has completed a course in Educational Psychology at an accredited college or university within the five years immediately preceding admission to the program. Students already meeting the requirement will be credited with these hours at the time of enrollment. III) 20 hours of Teaching Methods (Theory) which shall include, but not be limited to, topics in individual differences in learning, lesson planning and design, lesson delivery, assessment of learning performance, classroom management, student motivation, and classroom climate.
