Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Special Education from Canisius College is a Campus Bachelor Special Education degree that prepares you for a Education career. Special Education at Canisius is always combined with our Early Childhood and/or Childhood program. Our graduates are prepared to deal with children of widely varying abilities in a range of settings. Canisius special education students benefit from small class sizes and a hands-on approach to learning. Group and individual assignments go beyond the classroom, and challenge students to apply theories to real children in real-life situations. In today's schools, most of the special education population is comprised of children with mild disabilities, many of whom are placed in traditional classrooms. For instance, more than 50 percent of children considered disabled have a learning disability, a condition that would be virtually undetectable outside the school environment. These include children with speech disorders or obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), or other such conditions. Canisius students gain the skills and experience to help them in both special education and regular education classrooms. View more details on Canisius College .
