The Speech Communication area of concentration has been a strong academic program for two decades. Those receiving teaching certificates in Speech/Drama have few problems finding jobs in Oklahoma and surrounding states. There is a shortage of certified Speech-Drama teachers especially in Texas, where a new state law requires every high school student to take one semester of speech for high school graduation. Cameron's Speech Communication program offers many courses to prepare a student for law school. Since 1972, every Speech major applying to law school has been accepted and has completed the degree . Cameron's Forensic program has been nationally ranked since 1975 and has won two national Pi Kappa Delta titles in 1979 and 1981. Cameron has been ranked among the top ten schools in Pi Kappa Delta's national sweepstakes since 1977. The Pi Kappa Delta National Office was located at Cameron for a four year period starting in 1981 and ending in 1985.
