According to State Code N.J.A.C. 6A:9-13.18, all individuals in the state of New Jersey that provide educational interpreting related services to children who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf/blind in pre-school through twelfth grade, must meet certain requirements. In addition to passing the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of at least a 3.0, educational interpreters must complete 15 semester hours of specific coursework. The Educational Interpreter Training certificate program at Camden County College will assist interpreters in meeting these requirements. An added component of the EIT certificate program is an Interpreting Lab course in which students will work on self-assessment skills, EIPA test preparation skills, and the development of a professional portfolio.
