The General Studio Art concentration is a varied curriculum that provides a broad education in the visual arts. The Teaching Concentration prepares students to meet the requirements for admission to the Credential Program teaching art , grades K-12. Students are encouraged to work with the department adviser and/or the Center for Careers in Teaching as early as possible in their academic careers to plan efficient course selections for general education, major and electives. In addition to the requirements listed below for the major, students must meet the other university requirements for a Bachelor of Arts degree. Students in the Teaching Concentration must also meet specific requirements for the desired teaching credential. All art majors must take Art 300, Writing in the Visual Arts , and pass the university's Examination in Writing Proficiency (EWP) after achieving junior standing (60 units).
