Truck Mechanics from Buckeye Joint Vocational School is a Campus Certificate Automotive degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. As a student of Buckeye's Truck Mechanics program, you will be taught the skills necessary to work on medium and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Students will participate in field trips to various dealerships throughout the area to observe and interact with mechanics and service personnel. Technical work concentrates on areas of diagnosis of malfunctions, disassembly of engines, examination of parts, theory and practical applications of chassis and auxiliary systems such as air brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, and general electrical systems for both diesel and gasoline powered trucks and off-road vehicles. Students also learn the people and employability skills they will need to work in a big shop or manage one of their own. Students will receive certificates of training from OEM trainers that present dealership-style seminars several times a year.
