Professional Truck Driving Training from Bridgerland Applied Technology College is a Campus Certificate Land Transport degree that prepares you for a Transportation career. The Program: This program is taught by certified instructors and includes classroom and behindthe-wheel training. Tuition is inclusive and includes, but is not limited to, Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, temporary commercial driver license (CDL) learner permit, CDL, truck usage, and fuel. The process for obtaining a CDL is primarily established by the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles , Driver License Division. Professional Truck Driving students receive approximately two weeks of classroom and lab training to prepare them for the test to obtain a temporary student driver permit. This test is administered by the Driver License Division at their Brigham City location. Upon successfully passing the test and obtaining a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, a learner permit is issued by the Driver License Division and students are then eligible to participate in over-theroad training. The next approximately eight weeks of training consists of a minimum of 135 hours in the classroom, 60 hours in the lab, and 45 hours of behind the wheel training. Upon successful completion of the training program, students must pass an over-the-road driving test to obtain a license. The driving test may be taken with any third-party tester. For the convenience of the students, Bridgerland Applied Technology College has a third-party tester on staff. Upon successfully passing this driving test, students may obtain a complete CDL from the state of Utah Driver License Division.
