Jewish Day Schools - Secondary from Brandeis University is a Campus Master Elementary Education degree that prepares you for a Education career. In this small, personalized program, coursework and fieldwork inform one another. Students pursue a challenging curriculum combining Jewish studies and education studies with an intensive internship that serves as a context for learning to teach. Students study with members of the Jewish day school cohort as well as with members of the public school MAT cohort. The four-semester, full-time program begins with a five-week summer session, includes an academic year of study and an internship in a Jewish day school, and concludes with an additional five-week summer session. Students spend much of the academic year learning to teach in a local day school under the guidance of skilled mentor teachers and Brandeis teacher educators. Secondary M.A.T. (Bible) prepares students to teach Bible in grades 9 - 12 and to contribute to the informal curriculum of Jewish day high schools. The Gann Academy - The New Jewish High School of Greater Boston serves as the partner day school for the program. Students earn a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary education.
