The Radiologic Sciences Program is dedicated to providing present and future medical imaging technologists an educational experience with a solid professional knowledge base augmented with ? writing skills, ? computer literacy, ? interdisciplinary educational experiences, ? multicultural/multiethnic appreciation, ? professional experiences in a variety of health delivery environments, and ? critical thought. Graduates will be awarded an Associate of Science Degree and qualify for the ARRT credentialing examination. A Radiologic Technologist (Radiographer) utilizes independent judgment to apply knowledge and skills to successfully obtain a diagnostic imaging study while maintaining quality patient care and minimizing radiation exposure. Technologists generally are employed in acute care settings, ambulatory care settings, physicians offices, in education, and in management or sales positions. With additional education and training, radiographers may be employed in Radiation Therapy, Computed Tomography, Mammography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, Special Vascular Imaging and Cardiac Catheterization. The three-year Associate of Science Degree consists of a prerequisite freshman year and a two-year professional component (Sophomore and Junior years). The pre-professional, freshman year is open to any student accepted for admission to Boise State University .
