The Birthingway Childbirth Educator Program was designed from the beginning with the biodynamic model of birth at its core. This model acknowledges that birth is not only a natural part of human life, it is a necessary part, and one that is intimately connected with what it is to be human. Biodynamic birth means working with your body's normal physiologic processes. A biodynamic caregiver will support you and your own birth path with the least intervention possible, while protecting the well being of mom and baby. The "bio" in biodynamic refelcts broad biological themes, while the "dynamic" aspects ensure that our model is very woman-centered and individual. As a part of our certifcation process, you will develop a childbirth education series that will be a little different from everyone else's, just like every woman's birth experience will be unique. Many of the tools you use to design your class will be experiential- lullabies, meditation, guided imagery, vocalization, nurturing non-language, story telling, body movement, art, repetition. Other tools will include a deeply held faith in the birth process, an understanding of what modern American birth culture is saying about birth and how we can readjust that frame-of-reference, and ways to help the families you serve develop their own tools and find their own evidence to support their birth hopes.
