Professional Studies from Beulah Heights University is a Campus Bachelor Liberal Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. The basic objective of the professional studies is to enable each graduate to be an effective communicator of the Word of God, whether employed by a church or parachurch organization as a preaching minister, youth minister, minister of evangelism, Christian counselor, or minister in another area helpful to the church. Upon completion of a degree with a Biblical Education, Urban Ministries or Leadership major; a minor in Christian Counseling, Intercultural Studies, Leadership or Urban Ministries, the student should be able to: 1. Exhibit competency in knowing God's Word and applying that Word to the lives of the people they serve. 2. Communicate the Word of God in an effective, sensitive, and understandable manner. 3. Counsel in various situations and know when to refer counselees to trained professional counselors. 4. Recognize his or her unique role in the church and, in occupying that role, demonstrate a capacity to work with others, both youth and adults, in the total church and community. 5. Be acquainted with the basic skills of evangelism, both at home and abroad, church growth, and administration. 6. Know how to perform weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other ecclesiastical services. 7. Serve in the most menial or elevated of tasks, realizing that the true symbols of ministry are ?the towel and the basin? (John 13:1-17). 8. By activities in and out of the classroom, give evidence of an empathy for the lost of the world. 9. Demonstrate an ability to function effectively in one's own culture or in a cross-cultural setting. 10.
