Spanish Culture from Arizona State University at the Tempe Campus is a Campus Master European Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. This concentration includes a minimum of 30 semester hours of graduate level work as approved by the candidate's supervisory committee. The program must include the SPA 500 Bibliography and Research Methods course (to be taken during the first year of study), SPA 598 Cultural Studies/Semiotics of Culture , SPA 592 Research and 599 Thesis. A core program of study for this concentration must include the following courses: * SPA 598 Themes of Spanish Culture * SPA 573 Spanish American Essay Students in the Culture track must specialize in one of two areas (Peninsular and Spanish American [which includes U.S. Hispanic cultures]). Students must complete at least two courses in different genres in each of these two areas (two courses in Peninsular and two courses in Spanish American). Students specializing in Peninsular will take a total of up to four Peninsular courses and a minimum of two Spanish American courses; student in the Spanish American specialization will take up to four Spanish American courses and a minimum of two Peninsular courses. The aforementioned core courses (SPA 598 and SPA 573) will count as part of this total. One graduate course may be taken under a non-SPA denomination, with the approval of the student's supervisory committee only.
