English Literature from Arizona State University at the Tempe Campus is a Campus Master English degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Applicants for the MA program in English with a concentration in literature are required to have an undergraduate major in English. Those who do not have a major in English are encouraged to register as nondegree students while they take courses in areas of deficiency as identified by the advisor. Applicants must also submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test scores, three letters of recommendation, a personal statement of aims and purposes, and an academic writing sample. For the concentration in literature, a candidate must complete a minimum of 30 semester hours. The hours must include ENG 500 Research Methods; a course in literary theory; ENG 599 Thesis; and a nine-hour distribution requirement.
