Studio Art Sculpture from Appalachian State University is a Campus Bachelor Sculpture degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The goal of our sculpture program is to challenge students to express themselves creatively while offering students a solid understanding of sculptural materials, tools, and techniques. A full range of sculptural experiences in traditional and non-traditional media is available; as the field of sculpture is ever expanding, our facilities, our faculty and our students are constantly adapting to the changing contemporary atmosphere. A comprehensive schedule of course offerings, selected topics courses, visiting artist lectures, independent study and exposure to our yearly Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition expose our students to a broad range of sculptural expression, while inviting them to participate through their own studio activity. Cross-disciplinary and multi-media approaches to work are also encouraged, as students enter into a dialogue with other areas by participating in team-taught courses. In addition, Appalachian State University has a loft in New York and a brownstone in Washington, DC which are used yearly for sculpture class trips to visit galleries and museums and faculty regularly take students on national and international trips to expose them to an increasingly global world of art.
