Courses taken at an affiliated medical technology school include clinical chemistry (nine semester hours), clinical microbiology (ten semester hours), clinical microscopy (nine semester hours), and blood banking (four semester hours). Appalachian has affiliations with schools of medical technology at Baptist Hospital and Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., and with Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., and Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. Only a limited number of qualified applicants are accepted into the clinical year of this program and the competition is keen.
