The certificate program in Forensic Psychology prepares licensed psychologists to conduct evaluations competently with families involved in family or juvenile court because of disputes about custody arrangements or termination of parental rights. Participants in this program complete three full evaluations under the consultation of Dr. Andy Benjamin and in consultation with other students in the Psy.D. program's Forensic Concentration. Specifically, psychologists learn a published, standards-based process as well as procedures with actual clients through the Parenting Evaluation/Training Program (PETP). This program is designed for psychologists living outside the King, Pierce and Snohomish county areas with intensive two-day workshops and seminar participation, as well as case consultation provided through internet-based videoconferencing. The two-day, weekend intensive workshop covers the forensic protocol taught by the Parent Evaluation/Training Program. Completion of the workshop portion of the training program is followed by weekly consultation sessions offered concurrently with the Psy.D. program's Forensic Concentration professional seminar.
