Communication from Angelo State University is a Campus Master Media Studies degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The Master of Arts in Communication degree prepares students for information service positions that demand information technology training, planning and management abilities. The total number of hours required for the program leading to the Master of Arts in Communications is 36 hours of courses leading to either the thesis or the non-thesis option. Students must complete a residency requirement of a minimum of 15 graduate communication course hours in addition to any thesis or internship hours. All degree candidates will be required to pass a comprehensive exam (thesis option students will complete the comprehensive exam in addition to their thesis defense). To be admitted to this program all general admission requirements of Angelo State University Graduate School must be met. In addition, applicants to this program must: * Have completed a minimum of 24 semester credit hours (SCH) of undergraduate course work in either communications or journalism, including 12 semester credit hours of advanced course work OR have been approved for graduate study by the CDJ Graduate Advisor. * Show promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research, as evidenced by: An undergraduate grade-point (GPA) of 2.5 or better (4 point scale) in the total undergraduate record, including all grades on repeated courses; OR a GPA of 3.0 or better in the last 60 semester credit hours that applied to the baccalaureate degree , including all grades on repeated courses; OR a GPA of 3.0 or better for six or more graduate-level semester credit hours taken in an approved graduate degree program, AND present a satisfactory score* on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) . * Have on file a completed Residency Questionnaire. * Have received approval from the Dean of the Graduate School.
