Courses also examine ethics as a personal ideal as well as democracy and economic development as global and multicultural ideals. The Major The major in Philosophy leads to the Bachelor of Arts degree . It requires completion of at least 42 semester credit hours, with distribution as outlined below. 1. Three introductory courses: Philosophy 130, 140 and 150. It is recommended, but not required, that these courses be taken before courses above the 100 level. 2. Philosophy 230 or 380 3. Philosophy 270 or 350 4. Philosophy 310 5. Philosophy 580 6. Philosophy 600 and 605 7. Two elective courses in philosophy or cognate courses from another discipline.
