To ensure breadth of training and hands-on learning, our students take a core of thirteen courses ranging from economics, theory, international relations, political science and foreign language. * Four courses in economics - one course in Microeconomics, one course in Macroeconomics, and two from among International Economics, Economic Development or Comparative Economic Systems. * Two courses in theory - either Comparative Government and Politics or World Politics; and one from among Macroeconomic Theory, International Banking and Finance, Contemporary Policy Problems in International Relations, National Security Issues, or Global Environmental Politics. * One course in U.S.-international relations - either History of the U.S. Since 1965, African-American History Since 1865, The Rise of Democracy in America, History of American Women, American Diplomatic History, U.S. Foreign Policy, U.S. Presidency or Political Parties and Elections. * A group of at least four courses that focus on one of the following five areas - Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Western Regions of the Former Soviet Union, Western Europe, or Latin and Central America. * A seminar, either in International Studies or with an international focus in economics, history or political science. * A Senior Project. * Students also must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language or must take at least three courses beyond the 200-level from the Modern and Classical Languages Department.
