Swedish Massage Therapy from Alexandria School of Scientific Therapeutics is a Campus Certificate Massage Therapy degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The course includes the following: ? A minimum of 200 hours of anatomy and physiology, including special instruction on musculo- skeletal anatomy. ? A minimum of 250 hours of training in massage therapy technique and practice, which includes training in how to give a complete, full-body Swedish Massage . Seated Massage Class ? A minimum of 100 hours of law and ethics, business, massage history, benefits and contraindication of massage. ? A minimum of 100 hours of training in specific therapeutic modalities and nutrition, including an introduction to oriental massage techniques. ? 32 hours of Basic Life Support/CPR training. Objectives for the undergraduate course are as follows: ? To teach the benefits and contraindications of Swedish Massage Therapy. ? To teach the history of Swedish Massage Therapy. ? To teach basic Anatomy and Physiology with supplemental lessons in Musculoskeletal Anatomy. ? To teach students the physiological effects of massage. ? It is our desire to introduce our students to a wide variety of Modalities, including Hydrotherapy & Hot Rock Massage (8 hours), Sports-Massage (16 hours), Seated Massage (16 hours), Aromatherapy (16 hours), Infant & Newborn Massage (16 hours), Geriatric Massage (4 hours), Pre-Natal Massage (4 hours), Manual Lymph Drainage 10 (8 hours), Active Isolated Stretching (16 hours), Iridology (16 hours), CranioSacral/Sacral Techniques (8 hours), Herbology (16 hours), Polarity Techniques (16 hours), Nutrition (woven in with all classes as applicable), & Oriental Medicine (woven in with various segments, as applicable).
