Engineering Physics IDE Directed Energy from Air Force Institute of Technology - Graduate School of Engineering & Management is a Campus Master Engineering Physics degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. The Intermediate Development Education (IDE) Graduate Engineering Physics Program is a twelve month program for IDE students attending AFIT leading to a Master of Science degree . Students normally enter as a class in June and graduate a year later. The Department of Engineering Physics offers an engineering physics specialty under this program in the area of directed energy weapons. The specialty provides the student with the graduate level foundation in engineering physics necessary to understand and critically evaluate emerging technology. Mastery will be demonstrated in a report and presentation summarizing the results of the capstone engineering design study. Admission Requirements: Students entering these programs will have an undergraduate degree in physics , engineering, meteorology, astronomy or chemistry. The basic requirements for admission are an overall undergraduate grade point average, GPA, of at least a B (3.00), a GPA on all mathematics courses of at least a B (3.00); GRE scores of at least 500 on the verbal test and 600 on the quantitative test. Waivers of some of these requirements can be granted on an individual basis by the Department of Engineering Physics. Curriculum: Programs are four quarters in length. The first two quarters of each program stress foundational physics and mathematics.
